Nottalys

A premium emotional product at the intersection of music, memory, and technology.

Nottalys is a digital service that creates fully personalized wedding songs based on a couple's story. Couples describe their relationship and memories; they receive a unique, professionally composed song for their ceremony or first dance.

The gap addressed: custom music creation is expensive, slow, and hard to access — yet couples deeply want something emotionally meaningful and uniquely theirs. Nottalys sits at the intersection of high emotional value and accessible digital service. The project also served as an exploration of emotional UX, narrative-driven conversion, and AI-assisted creative workflows within a lean MVP approach.

Not an AI tool. A personal creation.

Nottalys is explicitly positioned as a premium emotional product — not a technical AI tool, not a music generator, not a mass-produced service. A narrative experience. Communication emphasizes: personal, meaningful, human.

This positioning shaped every design decision — from the brand name and logo to the copy tone, onboarding flow, and visual language. The product needed to feel like talking to a thoughtful human collaborator, not interacting with a software tool.

Three principles: emotional clarity, progressive disclosure, low friction.

Emotional clarity: the interface avoids technical vocabulary entirely. Focuses on feelings, memories, meaning. Progressive disclosure: information is revealed step by step — Concept → Process → Examples → Contact — no complex onboarding required. Low friction: usable without accounts, dashboards, or learning curve. The experience feels like a human conversation.

User journey: Discover the concept → Understand the emotional value → Listen to examples → Share their story → Receive a personalized song. Journey design deliberately minimizes cognitive load while maximizing emotional projection and trust. The onboarding became a guided conversation, not a form.

Designer + AI operating at the velocity of a small team.

Nottalys was built as a solo project with Claude (Anthropic) integrated as a collaborative partner across multiple disciplines simultaneously: front-end (component generation, Tailwind implementation, Alpine.js logic, debug), UX (copy iteration, journey refinement, content structuring), strategy (positioning feedback, MVP scoping, naming exploration).

This workflow demonstrated that AI + designer can operate with the velocity of a small team — without sacrificing design quality or product coherence. AI was used as a collaborative tool, not a replacement — every decision remained a design decision.

A live product. A proof of method.

Nottalys launched in 2026 — brand, UX, UI, front-end, motion, and deployment all designed and built solo. Eleventy/11ty + Tailwind CSS + Alpine.js + Lottie + GitHub Pages CI/CD. The product is live at nottalys.com.

Key learnings: emotional UX is a discipline in itself — language, pacing, and tone are design decisions. Narrative is a product tool, not just marketing. AI as collaborative partner significantly accelerates solo 0→1 development. Brand and product design are inseparable at this scale. MVP thinking is liberating: shipping an imperfect product beats not shipping a perfect one.
